ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS
For the security of your business and your employees.
An access control system is a modern day lock and key. While the old lock and key method can be easily manipulated, an access control system has measures to ensure that the information safeguarded can only be accessed by the correct person or persons. Most access control systems are usually doors, but can also be elevators, turnstiles, parking garages, and etc.. These systems are mainly electronic devices that are triggered by some sort of credential. These credentials can be something you have (key card), something you know (PIN code), or something you are (biometric Ids). The access control system can be made up of one or more of these items.
The credentials, when used with a reader, are compared to an access control list where it compares the numbers from the credential. The control panel reads the numbers and if they match, the control panel opens the door electronically. If they do not match the control panel does not open the door. Either way the control panel then sends the transaction to a database that logs that transaction. This is an example of a single factor transaction. As is stated above the transaction could also be a multiple factor transaction based on the type of access control system you need or want.
